An evening of celebration and inspiration took place at the Winter Gardens for the annual Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Awards extravaganza.
The Spanish Hall played host to 180 guests, including programme participants, who were joined by their parents, teachers and youth workers. Also in attendance were DofE leaders, council officers and Blackpool Council’s Chief Executive, Neil Jack.
The event saw the DofE community of Blackpool come together to celebrate the positive impact that the programme has had on young individuals.
Presentations from DofE participants highlighted how the scheme had helped to improve their confidence and employability prospects. Programme leaders also shared examples of how the skills and volunteering sections of the award can have a positive effect on Blackpool’s wider community.
